Milonga Tropical, Tango and Latin Showcase and Dance party,  opens its new season at Hotel Indigo Rialto Room at 6:30p on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

Fuad Elhage, a lecturer of Spanish for the professions in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, was recognized for his “Diversity through Dance” workshop, a class offered for the Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion.

On Saturday evening, hundreds of spectators gathered at The Classic Center to attend the annual Dancing with the Athens Stars. The fundraising event is thrown by Project Safe, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those impacted by domestic violence.

The University of Georgia Tango Club is an on-campus organization made to promote cultural diversity through music and dancing. The club is based on Argentine tango, and is open to all students, faculty and Athens residents.

Milonga Tropical returns to Athens on October 28, 2021 at Club Rialto, the event venue on the lower level of Hotel Indigo in Downtown Athens.

Milonga Tropical was created as a way for others to experience the most elegant form of dance. Tango is a form of magic.... 

Saturday night in downtown Athens could not be more eventful. While G-day was winding down, the crowds around downtown were not.

In its eighth year, “Dancing With The Athens Stars” remains a powerful fundraising tool for Project Safe’s efforts to end domestic violence in the community, as this year’s event, held Saturday night at The Classic Center in downtown Athens, brought in $137,570.
