Fuad Elhage awarded for his Diversity Through Dance Workshop Fuad Elhage, a lecturer of Spanish for the professions in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, was recognized for his “Diversity through Dance” workshop, a class offered for the Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion. Learning and Development and the Equal Opportunity Office were recognized for their partnership with Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion courses. Students can receive 3 hours credit taking his semester long SPAN 4080 Diversity Through Dance course. Read more about the course. Dancing with the Athens Stars returns after two-year hiatus, raises over $166k for Project Safe On Saturday evening, hundreds of spectators gathered at The Classic Center to attend the annual Dancing with the Athens Stars. The fundraising event is thrown by Project Safe, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those impacted by domestic violence. After being postponed for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fundraiser made its return with many well-dressed attendees of all ages coming out to support. Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz and his wife Andrea Griffith-Girtz hosted the show alongside a panel of three judges. UGA’s Tango Club brings Latin diversity to campus The University of Georgia Tango Club is an on-campus organization made to promote cultural diversity through music and dancing. The club is based on Argentine tango, and is open to all students, faculty and Athens residents. Fuad Elhage, the founder of the club, is also a Spanish lecturer at the UGA. Project Safe’s Dancing with the Athens Stars raises over $100,000 Saturday night in downtown Athens could not be more eventful. While G-day was winding down, the crowds around downtown were not.
